Sure, the Swedish Academy is best known for deciding who gets the Nobel Prize in Literature each year, but they also give out a bucketload of domestic prizes, which they announced at their big get-together on Thursday.
Lars Norén took the Bellman -- at nearly US$40,000 the biggest of these prizes -- while the more interesting P.C.Jersild (who isn't a member of this particular academy, but is one of the Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien (responsible for some of the other Nobels ...)) took the Gerard Bonniers pris.
Also good to see that they have a Svenska Akademiens pris för introduktion av svensk kultur utomlands -- i.e. for the promotion of Swedish culture abroad.
