The Seoul International Book Fair just came to a close, and in an overview in The Korea Times Baek Byung-yeul argues Seoul's 'international' book fair wasn't quite -- especially as:
"Major publishers in English-speaking nations, which obviously are the biggest movers in the global market, haven't been joining the event. This prevents SIBF from being taken seriously as an international book industry event," said Han Ki-ho, head of the Korean Publishing Market Research Institute.Or, to put it more succinctly:
"Right now, it's just a glorified local event that allows booklovers to buy some paperbacks at a discount," Han said.Ouch.
