Austerity leads to more reading ?

       In The Independent Alasdair Fotheringham reports that: 'An unlikely effect of the Spanish economic crisis has been a huge rise in the popularity of literature', in The austerity story: How Spain fell in love with books again as locals flood back to libraries.
       I'm not sure how much of a silver-lining story this is (especially given library-conditions, hard-hit by austerity cuts ...), but still .....
