Translation in ... India

       The Times of India bring the IANS report, Translations: A shortcut into different worlds, arguing that, as Geeta Dharmarajan, executive director and founder of Katha has it:
Translation as a counter-divisive tool in nation building and gives access to insights and skills needed to live in a pluralistic society like India
       And, of course, it's good to hear that:
translations in Oriya, Gujarati, Punjabi, Urdu, Kannada, Assamese, Malayalam and Tamil are occupying space in book stores.
       (Of course, I'd love to see more translations from these languages readily available in the US/UK too .....)
