They've announced the 16-title-strong longlist for this year's International Prize for Arabic Fiction, selected from 156 (otherwise unidentified ...) entries from 18 countries.
The leading Arabic-language novel prize, the winner gets $60,000 (each shortlisted author gets $10,000, and the winner gets another $50,000) and: "the Prize has guaranteed English translations for all of its winners". Several of the longlisted authors have already had books translated into English -- though Waciny Laredj, longlisted for the third time in four years, apparently has not.
