The most prestigious French literary prize, the prix Goncourt, is the rare four-round prize -- squeezing in a short-longlist between the usual longlist/shortlist/winner way of proceeding -- and round two was announced yesterday, the contenders cut down to eight.
Kamel Daoud's Meursault, contre-enquête remains, unsurprisingly, in the running (have any US/UK publishers picked it up yet ?), and it's also good to see The Award-author Lydie Salvayre still have a title in the running. (Other finalists include Customer Service-author Benoît Duteurtre and Delicacy-author David Foenkinos; granted, I haven't seen their works that are in the running, but .....)
