       At the Asymptote weblog Ryan Mihaly is In Conversation with Jay Rubin -- the author of Haruki Murakami and the Music of Words, and translator of several Murakami novels.
       Interesting that he suggests:
In general, I suspect translation is seen in a more positive light in less-than-dominant cultures that have to translate to keep up with the mainstream. American complacency keeps the incoming volume of translations low.
