The German Book Prize -- the German imitation-Man-Booker -- has announced its six-title-strong shortlist.
Jenny Erpenbeck is the most familiar name to English-speaking audiences. And I should be getting to the Frank Witzel, still my favorite title in the bunch. Among the longisted titles that didn't make the cut: Clemens J. Setz's massive (1000+ pp) Die Stunde zwischen Frau und Gitarre (see the Suhrkamp foreign rights page (hey ! 'Rights available' !))
