At the Wall Street Journal's Scene Asia weblog Jason Chow has a Q & A with Chetan Bhagat on Salman Rushdie, His Next Novel, 'Snobbish' Literary Culture.
       Bhagat argues:
Some people do art for aesthetics, and maybe I'm lacking in that. Some do art for impact, and I measure success by impact.
       Impact ? Hmmmm.
I do note that, leaving aside that ... lack of aesthetics, One Night @ the Call Center is among the few books that I've actually found truly offensive -- it is an indefensibly bad book. His other novels are bad too -- see, for example, Five Point Someone -- but not indefensibly so.
