The New Literature from Europe festival -- theme: 'In Transit' -- runs 14 to 16 November in New York.
The impressive line-up of authors includes The Collector of Worlds-author Ilija Trojanow (who has safely made it into the US -- unlike just a few weeks ago, when he was denied entry), HHhH-author Laurent Binet, The Devil's Workshop-author Jáchym Topol, and The Day before Happiness-author Erri de Luca.
I have to admit I don't quite get the 'Cab Chat' idea -- but the Writing Under Surveillance-panel (16 November, 14:30 at the NYPL) should be interesting -- especially in light of the just-released PEN report Chilling Effects: NSA Surveillance Drives U.S. Writers to Self-Censor (warning ! dreaded pdf format !).
