The Gray Notebook review

       The most recent addition to the complete review is my review of Josep Pla's The Gray Notebook, just out in a translation by Peter Bush from New York Review Books.

       And, more usefully, some real advice for writers:

Translation is a devilishly difficult occupation but I see how useful it is. Especially useful for getting to know one's own language.

       So few American (and British) authors translate; it really is something more of them should explore.
