It was prize night for the Internationale Literaturpreis - Haus der Kulturen on Thursday where Beate Thill's translation of Dany Laferrière's L'énigme du retour was honored (see my previous mention).
Tawada Yoko -- the German- and Japanese-writing author of Portrait of a Tongue and The Naked Eye, among others -- was the 'Festrednerin', giving the big speech to go with the ceremony, and Der Tagesspiegel now prints an edited (and still German) version, Lust auf Haikuhmilch. Lots of wordplay, but I hope someone commissions an English version .....
